The job topic is getting hotter each day. It is becoming both political and economical favorite word to use. Every country is grappling with an employment issues as their citizens demonstrate or complain about the lack of jobs. Private sectors are not spared too. To keep their business going, they are laying of considerable number of works just to keep their books right.
If this is the case where are the jobs?
Even in this tough economical times, where job cuts seem to be the most used phrase, there are still opportunities that are opened. One of the green pasture areas is the IT field. Most Kenya companies are trying to adapt ICT concept in their business model. They have ended up creating IT departs and adapting IT technologies, but there are fewer qualified people to hire. Many companies have job openings in their IT departments and this is a good sign that at least there exists a green pasture that you can try. The Kenya ICT is being seen as part of the solution to high unemployment rate in the country.
Another green pasture that has seen slow uptake of work force is the Agri-business. In the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s Kenya economy was wholly dependent on Agriculture and many people choose to study in any field related to Agriculture. However, things took a different turn in 90’s and everybody seems to run away from this sector. The sector has been newly rebranded to Agri-business with a new approach that seems to be working. Very few people have seen the potential in this sector. You need to establish your foot hold in this field because it going to be a force to reckon beside the ICT sector as a source of jobs for Kenyans.
You need to watch these two sectors because they are going to play a big part in Kenya job creation.
